Chit Chat with Creatives:
A Conversation with Raymond Wong of Rumah Kim Choo
At Fuchsia Lane, we believe that fashion is more than just clothing-- it’s a living expression of culture, history and artistry. In our new “Chit Chat with Creatives” series, we are honoured to feature Raymond Wong, the fashion designer behind the beautiful Peranakan Kebayas at Rumah Kim Choo.

Get to know Raymond Wong in our fun Q&A!
Raymond’s dedication as a Peranakan Kebaya maker was recently awarded the Stewards of Intangible Cultural Heritage in 2024. The award is given by the National Heritage Board for practitioners who strive to promote Singapore’s vibrant living heritage.
Much like us, Raymond has dedicated himself to keeping the rich traditions of Peranakan culture alive. While he does it through making Kebayas, in Fuchsia Lane, we weave Peranakan artistry into our Qipaos and modern silhouettes. Through our own ways of expressions, we share the same values of relentless pursuit of excellence, devotion to craftsmanship and heritage preservation, as well as providing a personalised customer service to our clients.
Vivienne and Raymond started their entrepreneurial journey with no formal background in fashion, yet they embraced the challenge, learning through hands-on experience and refining their art over the years. Both motivated with their passion and love for tradition, Vivienne has been in this path for 18 years while Raymond celebrates his 20-year milestone this year.
Join us in our conversation, where Raymond shares how his love for Peranakan heritage has shaped his work, the challenges in his journey, and the future of heritage fashion in Singapore.

P.S Interview was shot in end 2024 where Kebaya was not yet Iisted as UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage. The Kebaya officially made it to the UNESCO's list on 4 Dec 2024.
